Our Mission at STEAP is excellence in storytelling and art. We are dedicated to identifying and encouraging diverse, overlooked artists for performance, mentoring, and artistic opportunities.
We create programs that widen social awareness and
cultural appreciation among diverse communities.
We are a 501(3) C registered non-profit in Hendersonville, NC since 2012.

7th Ave Public Art Project in Hendersonville, NC
Selected and funded by The Community Foundation of Henderson County as one of their 40th Anniversary 2022 Special Grants. This community art project runs from May 2022 until Summer 2025.

Overview of this exciting project
This Public Art Project includes
-
yarn bombing on 7 trees & 12 lamp posts
-
1-2 murals on local buildings
-
1 piece of public art to be designed
We hope to complete 1 mural in 2023 and yarn bombing winter of 2022/23 if possible.
Other art to be completed in 2024/25.

Honor our diverse communities’ stories, cultures, & contributions in the past, present, & into the future

Engage the community in creating connection through art

Enhance the corridor for residents, businesses, & visitors

involve locally owned buidlings & businesses to participate

Share skills with community members
The Project Aims to:

Using local BIPOC artistis whenever possible

community voting on artwork

inviting local groups to participate

coordinating with city agencies and boards

community mural seletion panel

giving away art supplies to kids and adults

publicizing events widely

honoring the culture and history of the communities
